Wildlife Park and Nature Centre Sihlward

2nd day of our 3-day free unlimited travel. So we decided to travel up to Uetliberg again, this time by train & all the way up.

It was a scenic ride up and you'll get to hear the whistling of the train too. To come here, you can take the S-Bahn train S10 from the main train station which will end at Uetliberg Station.

Here we are at the top of Uetliberg finally.

It was sunny but the wind is still cold as we're high up here. It's only noon time that you'll begin to feel the heat.

Took a light lunch here since it's near noon time - fruit salad and soup with bread.
The fruit salad is soooo sweet and aromatic. Somehow the citrus fruits here are sweet rather than tangy and Uncle Tan is addicted to their oranges here which are big and juicy. The apples here are sweet and crunchy too, without being too tangy. They even have children-sized apples here. I'm not a soup person especially the English types, but I find this light and yummy which I believe it's made of asparagus.

Sitting here to sunbathe & looking at the kids :)

Langenberg Wildlife Park

Didn't expect the park to be like Uetliberg, where I've to do some vertical exercise again...

Didn't really any wildlife along the way except for some horses which are reared rather than in the wild. But we did hear lots of birds chirping thou. And I suppose this one is one of the birdie's house with an apt no.

Near the entrance, we saw this poor froggy being 'trapped' in this small environment. I hope it doesn't spend its entire life in this little space here...

Then we chanced upon this ghostly building (actually it didn't look ghostly when we were there, don't know why the photo turns out looking kinda eerie). It's actually a water storage place ( I guess from the German spelling). When you enter, the lights will light up and there's a voice explaining about how the water is stored. It's in German thou so we couldn't really understand. The water is very clear.

Here's a place to park your dogs while you BBQ away at the pit. Summer time, the Swiss like to BBQ. So as and when you'll smell BBQ food as you walk be it in the parks or in the neighbourhood.

We then reached the 'Visitor Centre-like area' where there's a makan place, an activity area for kids and a shop selling souvenirs.

To get to the wildlife park, you can take the S-Bahn train S4 and stop at Wildpark-Hofli. It's open all year round and it's free admission. No wonder we couldn't see much wildlife.
For more info, you can visit Wildpark.

With nothing much to see, we hopped on to the train S4 and see where it would take us to. We stopped at the end of the train stop, Sihlward, which offers a beautiful scenery.

Nature Centre Sihlward

Saw some people BBQ-ing and swimming by the lake. I admired their tolerance level to take the chilly waters. It's a nice little place with less people unlike the lakes we saw in the cities which are packed with people.

This place is made up of 10 sq.km of mixed deciduous forest.

Here we are at the end of the train station.

A cat came running out from nowhere and yearns for attention.

See the otter that's sunbathing on the tree log?

From front to back: Mama pig, Papa pig and baby piglet

They also have some exhibits here to show how to tell the age of trees, the various types of wood and what they can be used for. No wonder we saw so many firewoods around.
