This place I'm recommending is Park Im Grüene, located in Thawil, about 20 mins away from Zurich. It's a good place for families and picnics as it's less crowded with an extensive lawn and a playground. Adults can also rent the deck chairs for free. Everything is DIY, no one to give out the deck chairs or to monitor if you have kept the deck chairs.
To reach the park, you need to take train the S-Bahn train S8 to Thawil and then take bus 141 and stop at Park Im Gruene, which is the 6th stop.
Migros Restaurant by the park.
Imagine having a picnic here and playing ball games here. Shiokadoodoos :)
You could also catch a glimpse of the Zurichsee.
We visited the exhibition in the straw house which showcased the life of Gottlieb Duttweiler, Migros founder, and his wife. Free admission. You could also catch a glimpse of the Zurichsee.
The park is open to the public since 1947 donated by the Migros founder to provide a recreational facility for the public.
The donkey :)
Was telling my friend that my smile seems to resemble them ;p
The park offer donkey rides here which cost CHF 1, available on Wednesday and Sunday from 2-3pm and 3.30-4.30pm. They also offer the mini train ride called "The Bähnli" that runs in good weather, usually on Wednesday and Sunday from 2-3pm and 3:30-5pm, even during the holidays every day except Saturday at CHF 1 per ride. That day happened to be Sat, so we didn't see it in operation.
After lunch, decided to explore around before heading back.
This acorn reminds me of the poor little fella carrying it in Ice Age.
Uncle Tan demonstrating. Ah Kin had a hard time trying to get up onto the seat, only to realise later that she should bring the tyre to the other end which has a higher ground.
In Singapore, I never had the chance to try this mini flying fox cos the one at Pasir Ris is always having long queues. Not sure if it's still there and if it's still working normally since it's so popular.
It was shiok being able to scream as I slide since there were no one around, except the cows. It was pretty fast and had quite a strong recoil at the end.
And here we are.

Aiyah... I should have asked you to bring an acorn back for Lucas. It would have saved you a present. :)
