Swiss National Day - PM

After dinner, we were still deciding whether to take the train down to Thawil or Uetliberg to watch the firework display.

The weather wasn't conducive as there was the possibility of rain and that we had to topo our way to the garden which is about 20 mins walk (last bus from train station stops at around 8pm). In the end, we chose to go Uetliberg instead.

Waiting for our train at Binz Station.

And it was a good choice for we saw all the fireworks in Zurich!

It was amazing seeing the fireworks around the canton happening at the same time. Although they look small from where we were, it was an awesome sight :)

The restaurant was packed with diners.

Some had their own fireworks display as they are allowed to buy them from the super marts. But they are only allowed to be played on the National Day itself, otherwise it's considered illegal. Some of the explosives are really loud...I wanted to buy one to try but Uncle Tan warned me that it could be dangerous :(

On our way up, a nice gentleman told us about the firework display at Uetliberg which would happen at 10.45 pm. Hey, that's a bonus! :)

We found a strategic location - a level up on the viewing tower. I took the stairs up and felt floaty as they entire tower was made of metals and the stairs were full of tiny holes which made me felt so 'unsecure'...half the time I was holding on tight onto the cold handle that vibrates each time someone walks pass. It was getting colder and colder as the wind blows...then the fireworks started with a loud bang.

The fireworks right before our eyes.

It went on for about 10-15 mins and it was fun watching with a crowd having all the 'wahs' and 'ahs'... :)

Some of the fireworks were still going on in other parts of Zurich. I wonder how much budget is spent on this...some were organised by private organisations.

As we walked back, we saw the fireworks company clearing up the site set up for the fireworks display.
