Street Parade - 9 Aug

The 17th Street Parade in Zurich was held on 9 Aug, which also coincides with SG's National Day. The programme started at 1pm at a few places such as Utoquai, Bellevue, Limmatquai, Burkliplatz etc and we were there around 1+pm.

Smaller scale parties were held in Zurich starting from Friday evening and all the way to Monday morning.

It was an eye-popping experience for us indeed... ;p

...and probably an 'eye-scream' experience for the men...

The Street Parade is supposed to be a demonstration of love, peace, freedom and tolerance where people come together and dance to the electronic music. This year's theme is "Friendship" - calling out to everyone to meet the world with openness and friendship and to resist violence and agression.

Johnny Depp is here to party too?

Ms Sui together with the angel and the devil...

And Mr Sim busy with his grilled beef stick.

A Spongebob family =)

Ooh la la...

Disclaimer: Any photos with controversial or rated images are to be viewed at your own risk and discretion. If you feel uncomfortable viewing the above pictures, it is advisable not to scroll beyond this picture...which I know you will lah! ;p

Additional note: All pictures taken at the Parade were solely and strictly taken by Unce Tan ;p

There was also a mini parade by a Christian group with the anti-drugs and anti-alcohol banners. I prefer this live samba music to the heavy-base techno which somehow can't synchronise with the 30-year old heart of mine... ;p

Now this is what we call "Active Ageing".

Below is the G-rated group :)

Charlie, the angel?

Even the Pope is here to party ;>

As we were walking back, a whole lot of them are walking towards Bellevue where the parade will start at 3.15pm. It was too hot, and too crowded for us to stay any longer.

Young and old, people just dressed whatever they want, be it the 'woo-hoo' figures or a 'ahem' figures, people just come to enjoy themselves.

Well, this year's parade was supposed to be cancelled as last year as a fella was killed last year at the parade. With alcohol and drugs...anything can happen. So we didn't wana stay longer or come here at night even though it would be more happening then.

Uncle Tan's colleague also warned us not to be too happy if we receive things from the people at the parade for they could well be drugs. Apparently, the police won't do anything much about it but you would be fined if you're caught having more than a certain amount of soft drugs. Harder drugs are a no no here. Well, we still do get some 'souvenirs' which were being distributed - a pair of ear plugs and...a contraceptive item ;p

I suppose the one below decided to join in last minute and decided to take his mama's curtain ;p

Well, I guess it's the same everywhere. There will always be litterbugs around even though we're in 'earth's paradise'...well, a place can never be a paradise as long as there are humans around. We're such pests......
